Capturing memories and imagination in a personalised book is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give. But curing the blank page is harder than it looks. How do you find the right pacing? How do you make the narrative feel alive? With the rise of automated storytelling tools, many people are turning to technology to help. However, if you have explored other tools on the market, you might have noticed a common theme: static questionnaires. You type in a few names, select a pre-defined theme from a drop-down list, and generate a generic story that lacks heart. We take a different approach at Bandigon. We use technology to help cure the blank page, but we rely on the principle of co-creation so you become the author of your book. Here is how to write a picture book story that doesn't feel generic, using AI, but bringing your unique human touch. 1. Co-Create Through Conversation When you craft with Bandigon, you will interact with AI companions that help and guide you every step of the way, from crafting the story, to creating your characters, to polishing every illustrated scene. Feel free to brainstorm ideas. You can say “ I am thinking about 'X' but not sure about the angle, what do you suggest? ”. You can also pivot the plot mid-way and refine details. It’s ok to see a draft of the story and say to your AI companion, “ let’s change it completely. Can we make it rhyme? ”, or “ let’s change the human characters to animals ”. Take story crafting as an exploration until you feel proud of the manuscript. 2. Add your own unique details To create a unique story, you need to infuse the narrative with details specific to you. Let me give you an example: If you’re writing a Christmas story with Bandigon and live in the Southern Hemisphere, let your AI companion know your Christmas means summer heat, swimming in the pool, going to the beach, a BBQ in the backyard. Mention the quirks of your own experience, like how your dog always tries to steal the wrapping paper, or how Grandad likes to play the same song on his guitar every Christmas. Another example: If you are writing a story to give on Mother's Day, think about the traits that define her: Does she work incredibly hard all day but still finds the energy to play with the kids? Is she famously terrible at baking but makes the world's best toast? These real, humorous, and affectionate details elevate a story from a generic template to a deeply personal and thoughtful gift. 3. The Power of the Human Polish An AI writer can craft a story that is structurally sound and grammatically flawless. But only you can give it your tone of voice . To make your personalised Bandigon book truly authentic, take a moment to look at your manuscript and edit the draft directly to: Adjust the Vocabulary: Are there words in the draft that you would never say in real life? Swap them out. If you call dinner "tea," or if your family has a special nickname for a grandparent, make sure to use those words. Add Your Expressions: Include your family’s unique catchphrases, inside jokes, or the specific way you say goodnight. To the person receiving the book, it will be immediately obvious that this isn't an AI-generated story. They will see you took the time to create a unique gift, and will hear your voice in every line. Ready to craft your picture book story? Writing a picture book story doesn't have to be intimidating.
